SIGNAL CORPORATION AWARDED $25 MILLION U.S. ARMY ODISC4 CONTRACT.


Task Order to Enable Greater Automation and Knowledge Management Across U.S. Army Information Systems

SIGNAL Corporation, an information technology and engineering & management services company, has announced it has been awarded a task order to provide knowledge management and technical support to the Department of the Army, Office of the Director of Information Systems for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (ODISC4). The7-year contract valued at $25 million was awarded through the GSA (1) (Global mobile Suppliers Association, Sawbridgeworth, U.K., www.gsacom.com) A membership organization of suppliers of GSM products and services. Its goal is to promote GSM as the worldwide mobile communications standard. The ODISC4 contract is the third task order awarded to SIGNAL through Millennia Lite and adds to SIGNAL's growing scope of work with the U.S. Army on a variety of IT contracts.

) strategic plan. AKM is part of a larger initiative of the Army's to transform itself into a network-centric, knowledge-based force. AKM is intended to improve decision dominance by America's war fighters and business stewards - in the battle space and within the military's organizations and mission processes.

In addition to implementation of the Knowledge Management Initiative withinODISC4, SIGNAL is in charge of enhancement and maintenance of the Information Technology Systems Registration initiative for the Army. SIGNAL will also design, implement, and maintain numerous applications including the ODISC4 web site, people management activities, document and workflow The automatic routing of documents to the users responsible for working on them. Workflow is concerned with providing the information required to support each step of the business cycle.  management, and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) A framework for creating a secure method for exchanging information based on public key cryptography. The foundation of a PKI is the certificate authority (CA), which issues digital certificates that authenticate the identity of  technology. SIGNAL will also provide analysis support of other initiatives as the ODISC4 requirements evolve.
