There is some light manufacturing. , Va., February 5, 2002 - SIGNAL Corporation has been awarded a 5-year contract, valued at $14 million, to provide software lifecycle support for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration The FMCSA was established as a separate administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on January 1, 2000, pursuant to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999. FMCSA is dedicated to improving truck and bus safety on the nation's highways. SIGNAL's primary work will be to migrate FMCSA's computer systems from a mainframe environment to a web-enabled, client-server environment. This migration will better enable the collection, storage and analysis of data, including information and statistics ranging from compliance reviews and roadside inspections to traffic enforcement and truck/bus crash statistics and fatalities. SIGNAL will also provide additional software support throughout the duration of the contract.
