SIGMA DECODER SILICON SOLUTIONS FEATURED IN NXTV'S NEW BROADBAND DELIVERY SYSTEM.Sigma Designs has announced that their EM8400 MPEG decoder Software or hardware that decompresses and renders MPEG-encoded data. Because MPEG uses lossy compression, the decoded images are not 100% identical to the original. In most cases however, the differences are not easily detectable. The system uses Sigma's EM8400 to enable digital video decoding for various modes of Video-On Demand. Using NXTV's new system, hotel guests are able to choose from interactive broadband services including digital Video-On-Demand movies with Enhanced TV Enhanced TV (ETV) is one example of interactive TV. It is used in particular in reference to Two-Screen Solutions TV + PC services. Generally users of these ETV services have their TV and computer in the same room, and navigate their web browser to a particular program-specific Web features such as pause, reverse, fast-forward and bookmark A stored location for quick retrieval at a later date. Web browsers provide bookmarks that contain the addresses (URLs) of favorite sites. Last month, NXTV announced a successful installation of its Broadband Delivery System technology at one of the world's leading hotels, The Peninsula Beverly Hills. In addition, NXTV is installing its Broadband Delivery System at four other Los Angeles based showcase hotels with installation scheduled for completion by the end of September 2001. NXTV has digital movie license agreements in place from some of Hollywood's top Studios including Fox, Warner Bros BROS Brothers BROS Benefits and Retirement Operations Section (King County, Washington) BROS Barnes and Richmond Operatic Society (London, UK) , DreamWorks and Disney, delivers high-speed Internet to hotels via one of its strategic investors, Global Crossing (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :GX), and provides digital satellite TV programming under a content agreement with DirecTV.
