SIERRA ON-LINE INC. SIGNS LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH CHILDREN'S TELEVISION WORKSHOP

 BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sierra On-Line Inc. (NASDAQ: SIER) recently signed a licensing agreement with Children's Television Workshop, producers of such shows as "Sesame Street," to use the company's "Dr. Brain" science and math series to develop a weekly children's television show.
 Sold under Sierra's "Discovery Series" line of interactive educational software products, "The Castle of Dr. Brain" and "The Island of Dr. Brain" are designed to teach children math and science. First released in 1991, "The Castle of Dr. Brain" was followed a year later by "The Island of Dr. Brain." Both titles have been listed as best-sellers in educational and entertainment categories, according to PC Research.
 According to Alan J. Higginson, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing for Sierra On-Line and president of the company's Bright Star Technology educational software subsidiary, "This alliance lends credibility to the strength of our educational products and the success of Sierra's diversification into this category of software products."
 Victoria Strong, director of Program Development and Marketing at CTW, said, "Our goal is to produce a television show that encourages children to exercise their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. We believe that we can achieve that by using the `Dr. Brain' series."
 New York-based independent producers of such shows as "Sesame Street," Children's Television Workshop (CTW) was founded in 1968 as a not-for-profit multimedia educational institution that produces products for television, home video, software, and magazines.
 Sierra On-Line Inc., which owns a majority interest in The ImagiNation(TM) Network, develops and publishes interactive entertainment and educational software for IBM PCs and PC-compatibles, Apple Macintosh computers, and Sega-CD systems.
