It's the only way Mills, a co-captain along with Lee, knows how to play. ``I don't really stand out at any one skill,'' Mills said. ``Part of what I do for the team is work hard. I just try and do what everyone else does for the team and that's work toward our goal of winning our league and doing well in the playoffs.'' Mills also has her eyes on the future. Her goal is to play in college, and with her extensive volleyball background she knows that not just anyone can make it to that level. Mills' mother Linda coached the Warriors from 1988 to 1990, and Lauren, who was 6 when her mother took the job, tagged along to games and practices. ``She's been in the gym that long,'' said Linda. It was at that time Mills developed her love for the game. ``Lauren is definitely someone who leads by example,'' said Klee. ``She knows what goes into making a team successful. She's excellent at bringing the team together and lifting someone's spirits after an error.'' Her teammates agree. ``Lauren is so positive,'' Lee said. ``She's a go-getter.'' But it has to be everyone's goal. It's something that has to be in everyone's heart. My goal is for us to succeed and I want to do all that I can to make it happen.'' Playing the leadership role is something unique for Mills. She was on the Warriors' varsity as a sophomore when the team was dominated by talented seniors. Last season her leadership status went up a notch notch (noch) incisure; an indentation on the edge of a bone or other organ. aortic notch dicrotic n. cardiac notch 1. , but being a co-captain is a new role. ``You kind of have to fill the shoes of all the great players that have been here before,'' said Mills, who has extensive knowledge of programs past. ``It's a hard spot to fill. When I was a sophomore, Brook Rundle was the setter and she was awesome. You want to make them proud and tell them, `Look, we're doing it. We're a pretty good team, too.'
