SHOWING VETERAN POISE CABRERA EXTENDS HITTING STREAK, WEAVER SOLID ANGELS 6, MINNESOTA 3.

ANAHEIM, Calif. --- After using their minor-league system liberally over the first two months of the season, the Angels now are turning the tables.

The Angels pounded Minnesota Twins The Minnesota Twins are a professional baseball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Twins are a member of the Central Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the Twins have played in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.  starter Scott Baker Scott Baker may refer to:
  • Scott Baker (baseball), Minnesota Twins pitcher
  • Scott Baker (LHP baseball) (b. 1970), retired left-handed baseball pitcher
  • Scott Baker (autoracer) (1957–2000), American stock car racer
in Tuesday's 6-3 victory and likely sent the struggling right-hander back to the minor leagues. That announcement is expected today.

If Baker is demoted, it would actually be the second pitcher they rocked out of the league after they forced Chicago White Sox The Chicago White Sox are a professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. The White Sox are a member of the Central Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the White Sox have played in U.S.  pitcher Charles Haeger back to Triple-A on May 10.

The Angels know all about changing on the fly. They have called up 11 players this season, seven of whom have made their major-league debuts. Five of those first-time major leaguers came up this month.

Yet it was the guidance of steady veterans that did the job Tuesday as the Angels won for the sixth time in their past seven games. They also assured themselves of winning their third consecutive series after not winning one in a month.

``We're not the finished product, but we're moving in the right direction,'' manager Mike Scioscia

``I think that's something that would eventually happen because we're a good team,'' Cabrera said about the team's recent winning ways. ``We're not a mediocre team, we're a good team. Sometimes teams go into a slump and then everything is going well where you put everything like we're doing now, defense, pitching and hitting.

Cabrera certainly was not alone as the Angels dug out of an early 2-0 first-inning hole. Vladimir Guerrero Vladimir Alvino Guerrero (born February 9, 1976 in Don Gregorio, Nizao, Dominican Republic), and known in his native Dominican Republic as Miquéas (Spanish for Micah), is a Major League Baseball right fielder who plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  started a four-run fifth inning with an RBI single and Garret Anderson Garret Joseph Anderson (born June 30, 1972 in Los Angeles, California) is a Major League Baseball left fielder who has played his entire career for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  added the second of his two RBIs in the inning.

Juan Rivera Juan Rivera may refer to:
    • Juan Rivera (explorer) an early Spanish explorer of North America
    • Juan Rivera (baseball), the baseball player
    • Juan Rivera (wrestler), a professional wrestler, better known by his stage name Savio Vega.
also came through in the fourth inning with a two-run home run, his first homer since a grand slam May 12 against the Seattle Mariners. He entered the game with six hits in his past 38 at-bats (.158).

Rivera started in left field, while Garret Anderson took over the designated hitter role for a night.

The veteran of not, though, was starter Jeff Weaver. The right-hander was awakened for the second consecutive game by an opponent's home run.

While it was the Texas Rangers' Brad Wilkerson who shook Weaver from a month-long slumber in his previous start, it was a blast by the Twins' Torii Hunter that did the trick Tuesday. Hunter gave the Twins a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a home run to center field.

Weaver followed Hunter's home run with a strikeout against Michael Cuddyer to end the half inning. After allowing a single to Justin Morneau to open the second, Weaver retired 12 consecutive batters before Jason Kubel led off the sixth with his first home run of the season.

    ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

"Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party.
what it is, a home run gets me going every time,'' Weaver said. ``That part's been pretty annoying, but the last two outings are something I can build off of. I feel better each time and I give credit to the offense. I got in a 2-0 hole and they answered right back.''

Weaver (3-7) went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits with no walks and four strikeouts. He won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Since last Wednesday, Weaver and his younger brother Jered are 3-0 and have allowed a combined six runs in 20 innings (2.70 ERA) with 14 hits and 14 strikeouts. Jered Weaver starts Friday to open a three-game series at Cleveland.

Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth inning to record his 13th save in 14 chances this season and 31st save in his past 32 opportunities dating back to last season. His only blown save during his current run was April 18 to the Twins at Minnesota.
