PALMDALE -- For some shoppers, the annual post-Thanksgiving frenzy is more marathon than sprint.

Six relatives joined her at 4 a.m., an hour before the store's opening. After shopping there, they drove in three cars to other Lancaster and Palmdale stores before hitting the Antelope Valley Mall The Antelope Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Palmdale, California.

While in line at the Wal-Mart, Barrett telephoned her daughters and told them it was time to get up. She looked far from exhausted even though she had not eaten anything since Thursday except a piece of a baked pretzel and some lemonade.

When asked when she would call it a day, Barrett said, ``When I feel I have accomplished something.''
