VALENCIA -- Shopping never felt so good.

Santa Clarita's shop-a-holics can feed their addiction today while helping out one of the state's top cancer centers.

Kathy's Club Boutique is holding an all-day charity shop event to raise money for UCLA's sarcoma sarcoma (särkō`mə), highly malignant tumor arising in connective- and muscle-cell tissue. It is the result of oncogenes (the cancer causing genes of some viruses) and proto-oncogenes (cancer causing genes in human cells).  program at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from the day's sales will go to the center.

Kathy's Club Boutique was put together by friends of Kathryn A. Goldring-Fromberg, a former Stevenson Ranch Stevenson Ranch, California (in the 91381 ZIP Code) is a Los Angeles County, USA, unincorporated community west of Santa Clarita a few miles south of Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. The Stevenson Ranch fountain was redone in 2007.  resident and supporter of the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, who lost her battle to sarcoma in July.

Fromberg was largely responsible for bringing the sarcoma center to UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report. .

The Jonsson Center, one of the three busiest cancer centers in the country, treats about 500 sarcoma patients a year. The center was recently named the top cancer center in California, for the seventh year in a row.

``Her tireless fundraising efforts yielded hundreds of thousands of dollars that helped launch the program in 2005. Our physicians and researchers, and the patients they serve, are deeply grateful.''
