SHOPPERS FLOOD MALLS AISLES, PARKING LOTS DECKED WITH LAST-MINUTE GIFT BUYERS.

PANORAMA CITY - Lines snaked 20-deep in stores at San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

The last-minute weekend rush to buy presents or sit on Santa's lap nearly wrapped up a Christmas season that has left retailers and national economists holding their breaths. Sales were brisk at malls from Panorama City to Northridge.

``I'm just like a lot of people, waiting to the last minute,'' said Ruben Gonzales of Pacoima, laden with purchases at La Curacao, an electronics and furniture store in the Panorama City Mall City Mall is a shopping mall located in Eroii Revolutiei square, Bucharest, Romania.

Some shoppers were only out Sunday to buy stuff for themselves.

``I give money to my children and grandchildren instead of gifts, then they can get what they want,'' Christine Gaeran of Woodland Hills said.
