SHELL CANADA LIMITED ANNOUNCES WELL RESULTS
SHELL CANADA LIMITED ANNOUNCES WELL RESULTS CALGARY, Alberta, March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Canada Ltd.
announced today the (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Canada: SHC) results of the two wells drilled this winter in the Mackenzie Delta, Unipkat B-12 and Shavilig J-20. Neither well contains economic volumes of oil.
These wells were drilled to follow up on the significant 1990 oil discovery at Unipkat N-12, located 115 km northwest of Inuvik, N.W.T. The N-12 well contains more than 100 m of oil pay and more than 30 m of gas pay in high quality sand reservoirs. Seven zones were tested with maximum flow rates of 11.6 million cubic feet per day of gas and 1,600 barrels of oil per day. The oil is 19o API with a low pour point. Although the results of this winter's drilling program are disappointing, Shell expects it will take up to four years of further exploration work to determine if any development is warranted. Shell will be analyzing the results of this winter's drilling and seismic programs to determine future drilling sites. -0- 3/27/92 /CONTACT: Mary Given, 403-691-3736, or Adrienne Lamb, 403-691-3892, both of Shell Canada/ (SHC.)
