SHELDAHL PROMOTES TWO

 NORTHFIELD, Minn., Nov. 25 ~PRNewswire~ -- Sheldahl, Inc. (NASDAQ: SHEL) announced two management changes effective immediately. Richard J. Slater, formerly vice president, engineering, was named to the new post of vice president, technology. His charge will be to explore and expand complementary partnership opportunities and technology licensing activities, as well as obtain government and research and development funding for the company's Advanced Technology Manufacturing programs. Slater will continue to spearhead Sheldahl's engineering training and the evaluation of new technology in support of core businesses. He joined the company in 1955 and held various management positions, including head of Sheldahl's Northfield Operations.
 Slater holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and economics from St. Olaf College, and has completed a management course of study at Harvard Business School. He has authored numerous papers and is the holder of six patents.
 Keith Casson, formerly chief consulting engineer, has been promoted to director of research & development. In this new role, Casson will become a member of the Sheldahl management team and will direct all the company's research & development personnel. Previously, he had been responsible for representing the R&D group in its relationships with sales, marketing, manufacturing and procurement. Casson, who joined Sheldahl in 1968, is a graduate mechanical and industrial engineer with a degree from Iowa State University. He is also a registered professional engineer.
 Sheldahl's core competency lies in the conversion of basic materials into technical laminates that are sold as foils and tapes. The company also uses these laminates as the base for such products as antennas, electronic shielding, insulation, flexible interconnects, and specialized fabrications. Sheldahl has strategically located design and technical centers in the Western, Midwestern and Eastern regions of the United States, and in Great Britain.
