She got a red mark forever. She still has it a little.'' Berry Soltani's mark faded with age, but her sister's competitive nature intensifies every day. ``That's just how my personality is,'' Terry Soltani said. ``If I don't win everything or come really close, I go berserk ber·serk adj. 1. For the past 12 months, Terry Soltani and her Taft teammates have worked to erase the bitter memory of losing to San Pedro in last year's title match. They endured lengthy two-a-day summer workouts in Taft's steamy gym, staying together as a team rather than spreading out on various travel teams. I had a (math) test today and I could not concentrate. I kept thinking about our game and what we're going to do against San Pedro. How I am going to set? How are we going to attack them? That's all I can think about.'' Soltani is a three-year starter at Taft, and hasn't missed a match or a practice. Taft coach Arman Mercado For the hispanic surname "Mercado", please see de Mercado. Mercado, who also coaches the boys, anticipated the rematch against the Pirates. Tonight's City title match is Mercado's seventh try at the championship.
