SHAW INDUSTRIES NAMED IN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT

 DALTON, Ga., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Shaw Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SHX) today announced that it has been named as one of four defendants in a class action lawsuit filed in federal district court in Philadelphia. The company has obtained a copy of the complaint and forwarded it to the company's attorneys for review.
 Robert E. Shaw, president and chief executive officer, stated that "Based on our initial review, the case has no merit and we intend to vigorously defend it."
 Shaw Industries, Inc., with corporate offices in Dalton, manufactures and sells carpeting to retailers and distributors throughout the United States and the United Kingdom and exports to Canada and several other foreign markets.
