SHARED MEDICAL SYSTEMS CORPORATION REPORTS RESULTS FOR THE SECOND QUARTER AND SIX MONTHS ENDED JUNE 30

 MALVERN, Pa., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Shared Medical Systems Corporation (SMS) (NASDAQ-NMS: SMED) today announced its financial results for the second quarter of 1993.
 Revenues for the second quarter of 1993 were $124,146,000, an increase of 6.4 percent compared to the same period in 1992. Income before income taxes for the quarter ended June 30, 1993, was $12,657,000, up 11.9 percent over the same quarter last year. Net income and net income per share for the current quarter were $7,847,000 and $.34, respectively, an increase of 10.1 percent and 9.7 percent, respectively, compared to the second quarter of 1992.
 Revenues for the six months ended June 30, 1993, were $241,366,000, an increase over the same period in 1992 of 5.3 percent. Income before income taxes for the six months ended June 30, 1993, was $24,816,000, up 12.2 percent over the comparable period in 1992. Net income and net income per share for the six months ended June 30, 1993, were $15,386,000 and $.67, respectively, representing increases of 10.4 percent and 9.8 percent, respectively, compared to net income and net income per share during the same period in 1992.
