SHAPING UP STUDENTS SHARE IN SCHOOL EFFORT TO IMPROVE FITNESS.

VALENCIA - Rio Norte Junior High students walked and ran as much as six miles in their physical education classes Thursday and Friday to raise money for a campus fitness and wellness center.

A River Hawk Walk spokesman said the event raised about $12,000 to fund the campus facility. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association American Heart Association (AHA),

Students received prizes and incentives by bringing in sponsorships.

The event was sponsored by the Rio Norte Physical Education Department and the school Parent Teacher Student Association.
