SGS-THOMSON announces Corporate Vice-President and President of the America Region.


DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 19, 1996--SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics microelectronics, branch of electronic technology devoted to the design and development of extremely small electronic devices that consume very little electric power.  has appointed Richard Pieranunzi as Corporate Vice-President and President of the America Region.

He moves to this position from that of Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for the America Region which he has held since 1994. In his new capacity, Pieranunzi will continue to lead SGS-THOMSON in the Americas to greater success in terms of customer satisfaction, market share, and financial return.

"In recent years, ST's American team has grown to a level that now impacts, domestically and internationally, close to one third of the corporation's revenues. Our goal is to strengthen our strategic alliances, offer ever-advancing technologies and services while maximizing our market share through our broad product portfolio," said Pieranunzi. "We must continue to develop our customer base to penetrate a wider spectrum of the market while evolving our current relationships to meet their future needs." Pieranunzi continued, "My most immediate plan is to expand my working relationship with the entire American team, so that we can continue to operate more efficiently and effectively within an atmosphere of aggressiveness and optimism as we move into the future."

Pieranunzi takes his new responsibility from Laurent Bosson, who is appointed chairman of the board of the America Corporation, maintaining a key role with the USA while concentrating on the increasing manufacturing challenge.
