SGI (SGI, Sunnyvale, CA, www.sgi.com) A manufacturer of workstations and servers, founded in 1982 by Jim Clark. The company was founded as Silicon Graphics, Inc., but changed to its acronym in 1999.  is a high-performance, computer-technology company, which produces a wide range of systems from desktop workstations and servers to powerful supercomputers. The Silicon Valley-based corporation delivers not only advance computing computing - computer  capabilities but also 3D visualization Using the computer to convert data into picture form. The most basic visualization is that of turning transaction data and summary information into charts and graphs. Visualization is used in computer-aided design (CAD) to render screen images into 3D models that can be viewed from all  for scientific engineering, creative professionals and other large business enterprises. SGI works with manufacturing companies, government, the entertainment industry, communications networks The transmission channels interconnecting all client and server stations as well as all supporting hardware and software. , energy producers, and science and education institutions.

This year, SGI delivered two high-performance graphics systems that will power F-16 Mission Training Centers for the U.S. Air Force. The contract calls for a total of five systems. The prime-contractor on this $176 million project is Lockheed Martin For the former company, see .
