SEVENTH-GRADERS HEAD ON TECH TREK 10 LOCAL GIRLS WIN `CAMPERSHIPS' TO ATTEND PROGRAM.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  -- The American Association American Association refers to one of the following professional baseball leagues:
  • American Association (19th century), active from 1882 to 1891.
  • American Association (20th century), active from 1902 to 1962 and 1969 to 1997.
 of University Women's Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  branch has awarded 10 seventh-grade girls its Tech Trek Camperships, spots in its a math, science and technology program.

The girls will join others for a week this summer at the state camp.

The program sends seventh-grade girls who have been recommended by their schools to a one-week summer camp specifically geared to enhancing their interest in math and science.

The camp will be held at Whittier College and the girls will stay in the dorms with AAUW AAUW
abbr.
American Association of University Women
 volunteer house-mothers.

The program is in its eighth year.

This year enough money -- $7,500 -- was raised to fund 10 girls.

The girls chosen for the scholarship awards are Aja Curry, Kristen Nystrom, Lindsay Lovio, Jennifer Hernandez, Kelsey George, Katrina Beltran, Savannah Savannah, city, United States
Savannah, city (1990 pop. 137,560), seat of Chatham co., SE Ga., a port of entry on the Savannah River near its mouth; inc. 1789.
 Peyser, Chelsie Dietz, Casey Hebebrand and Michelle Krolick.
