The dinner and after-dinner auction raised more than $50,000 for the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Committee on Aging Corp.'s Senior Center and Respite Day Care Program for Adults.

``It was a fun-filled evening for a good cause,'' said Erica Betz, co- chairwoman of the event. ``We were thrilled with the generosity of this year's guests, and even more excited about the monetary outcome of the evening because it will provide our local seniors with much-needed day care activities while their regular day care providers are away.''

In keeping with this year's theme, ``Santa Clarita Valley Goes Hollywood,'' waiters dressed in costumes from movies like ``M*A*S*H,'' ``Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,'' ``Titanic,'' ``Grease'' and ``The Count of Monte Cristo Count of Monte Cristo

The waiters are known to do just about anything to raise money, performing zany dance numbers on demand, with guests occasionally paying extra just to get them to stop, Betz said.

``We are lucky to have such a caring community,'' she said. ``Our community could not function at the level it does without those who graciously give of their time, talent and monetary resources. It's our volunteer waiters who are to be commended for their zany and fun-filled fund-raising efforts.''

Organizers have already begun planning for next year's dinner, which will also raise funds for adult respite day care. Those interested in volunteering for a committee can contact Betz at (661) 251-4866 or Greg Nutter at (661) 288-2002.
