Hull and the lay members will take turns presenting their thoughts on Jesus' statements known as the Beatitudes Beatitudes (bē-ăt`ĭt  dz') [Lat.,=blessing], in the Gospel of St. Matthew, eight blessings uttered by Jesus at the opening of the Sermon on the Mount. , from his Sermon on the Mount Sermon on the MountBiblical collection of religious teachings and ethical sayings attributed to Jesus, as reported in the Gospel of St. Matthew. The sermon was addressed to disciples and a large crowd of listeners to guide them in a life of discipline based on a new law of . Speakers will then share personal anecdotes that relate to the virtues, which are intended to lead listeners closer to God and a life of peace and happiness. I had to sit down and think about this one,'' Desant said. ``The Sermon on the Mount is so powerful. It was really a task.'' Desant said the program should prove interesting because of the exchange of a wide variety of opinions. ``You can read the Bible alone, but it's good to hear other people's opinions,'' said Desant. ``I think the program could give people hope. If people could just take the time to realize that God is in ultimate control. We need only turn to him in faith-filled prayer even when in our darkest despair.'' Tilly will discuss the sixth Beatitude: ``Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.'' ``The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus' way of teaching values and how to live. There are a lot of interpretations on the Beatitudes,'' Tilly said. ``I love the Beatitudes. They are my favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York.
