SEPTA & COLUMBUS PARADE: BUSES WITH INTERNATIONAL FLAGS,
LAST DAY FOR 'COLUMBUS,' ROUTE DETOURS
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, Oct. 11, SEPTA riders will discover that SEPTA Route 82, the "ColumBus," will be making its final weekend run this year, and that SEPTA will again be a participant in Philadelphia's Columbus Day Parade, SEPTA announced today.
The experimental ColumBus, which has been in operation Fridays through Sundays since Aug. 7, will reach the end of its operating season Oct. 11. The route runs between 17th Street and JFK Boulevard and the Spring Garden Station of the Market-Frankford Line via Market Street in Center City, Olde City and Delaware Avenue between Dock Street and Fairmount Avenue.
SEPTA said that it will review the bus route's performance in order to decide if enough riders discovered the new route to warrant its return next spring.
Once again, SEPTA will participate in the Columbus Day Parade. Two 60-foot long articulated buses, decorated with international flags representing the diversity within the Authority's workforce, will serve as SEPTA's entry.
The parade will detour bus Routes 2, 7, 12, 17, 27, 31, 32, 33, 38, 43, 44, 48, 76 (the Ben FrankLine), 82 (the ColumBus), 124 and 125. The route will be on local detours in Center City from 10 a.m. until the end of the parade.
