SEPRAGEN CORPORATION LAUNCHES QUANTASEP PROCESS LC FOR LARGE SCALE BIO-PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTION.

HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 10, 1996--Sepragen Corporation (Nasdaq:SPGNA, SPGNU, SPGNW; PSE PSE

1. pale soft exudative pork.

2. portosystemic encephalopathy.
: SPNTT, SPNUTT, SPNWSATT) announced today the introduction of QuantaSep(R) Process LC, its new process scale automated chromatography system. The new system, which was originally developed for a leading bio-pharmaceutical company, is currently being used to manufacture materials needed for human clinical trials of genetically engineered genetically engineered adjective Recombinant, see there  drugs.

QuantaSep Process LC is a highly automated process workstation that dramatically reduces the level of operator skills and labor costs associated with large scale liquid chromatography systems. Quality control is greatly enhanced as the new system improves the consistency and repeatability of separations while virtually eliminating human error. The system is also designed to take advantage of radial flow chromatography's unique linear scalability to manufacturing stage levels of throughput.

"QuantaSep Process LC is the first process liquid chromatography system that permits large scale, cost effective bio-pharmaceutical production with the same precision found on smaller bench-scale systems, " said Vinit Saxena, president and Chief Executive Officer of Sepragen Corporation. "These systems can handle separations based on accurate gradient elutions at flow rates up to 50 liters per minute, and provide our customers immediate competitive advantages."

QuantaSep Process LC, originally designed for large scale bio-pharmaceutical production needs, is a computer-controlled chromatography workstation consisting of hardware, electronics, software, sensors and detectors.

The system, which is fully compatible with Good Manufacturing Practice Good Manufacturing Practice or GMP (also referred to as 'cGMP' or 'current Good Manufacturing Practice') is a term that is recognized worldwide for the control and management of manufacturing and quality control testing of foods and pharmaceutical products.  (GMP GMP (guanosine monophosphate): see guanine. ) standards, is controlled by Sepragen's new, powerful yet highly intuitive software Application programs that have a friendly interface and work like users would expect. Menu functions are available in a logical order that one finds natural. The most common functions are presented in one menu or are located at the top of the menu list rather than being buried in rigid  Version 2.0. This software allows control of the machine through an active "P&ID Dashboard" user interface and features a multitude of security features, alarms, customizable methods, looping, data review and analysis and customizable reports. The QuantaSep Process LC provides a means for accurate gradient formation, a proprietary system for automated air removal, leak detection, buffer selection and fraction collection.

The QuantaSep Process LC will also be the basis for running and controlling processes that Sepragen is developing in other industries. The technology is used for the company's Sepralac(TM) process, which separates dairy whey whey

liquid residue from milk after the removal of cheese curds in the manufacture of cheese. An excellent protein supplement but difficult to handle in the liquid form, except to pigs maintained close to the cheese factory. Dried whey is easy to handle but processing costs are high.
into its component proteins. The proteins can be used to prepare infant formula Infant formula is an artificial substitute for human breast milk. Formulas are designed for infant consumption, and are usually based on either cow milk or soy milk. Use of infant formula has been decreasing in industrial countries for over forty years as a result of antenatal  that more closely resembles the composition of human milk than currently available products.

Sepragen Corporation has pioneered the development of large-scale chromatography with its patented radial flow chromatography process which can separate target molecules from high volume liquid raw material streams. Sepragen develops and licenses separation and purification technology using the company's patented Superflo(R) radial flow chromatography columns and QuantaSep(R) computer controlled process chromatography workstations for use in the biopharmaceutical, food and beverage F&B is a common abbreviation in the United States and Commonwealth countries, including Hong Kong. F&B is typically the widely accepted abbreviation for "Food and Beverage," which is the sector/industry that specializes in the conceptualization, the making of, and delivery of foods.  and waste management industries. The company also sells patented resins and other separation media.
