SENIOR BUSH ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL JOINS MAYFLOWER CONTRACT SERVICES

 OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Roland J. Mross, former deputy administrator of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), has joined Mayflower Contract Services Inc. (MCS) as a divisional vice president effective immediately. Mross will be responsible for the development and management of MCS' fast-growing public transportation division in the eastern half of the country. He will be headquartered in MCS' Chicago offices.
 During his four-year tenure in the Bush Administration, Mross served as second in command at the FTA (formerly the Urban Mass Transportation Administration). FTA has responsibility for providing technical and financial assistance to public mass transportation providers nationwide. Mross led a four-year effort to improve federal support for human services transportation and is recognized for his leadership in improving paratransit for the elderly and handicapped.

 Today, MCS is the nation's largest provider of paratransit services for the handicapped, serving more than 30 communities. MCS is a nationwide provider of fixed route, brokerage and management consulting services for public transportation agencies.
 Mross has more than 30 years experience in transportation and planning with a distinguished record of public service. He served as Indiana's first director of the Indiana Department of Transportation, organizing and then leading the agency from 1980-1989. In addition, he has held senior positions with the Indiana State Planning Services Agency, the Indiana State Budget Agency and Indiana Department of Commerce. He also served as an assistant to Indiana Governor Ed Whitcomb from 1970-73.
 Mross holds a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He helped found the Indiana Chapter of the American Planning Association and served two terms as its president. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
 MCS employs 10,200 people nationwide and maintains a fleet of more than 7,800 vehicles in 26 states serving half a million passengers each day. MCS is headquartered in Overland Park and is a subsidiary of Mayflower Group Inc., (NASDAQ: MAYF) which trades publicly on NASDAQ (symbol: MAYF).
