With 9,000 PCs and 1,000 servers nationwide, speed and efficiency in IT support response are crucial to the smooth functioning of the U.S. Senate's network. The state-of-the-art help desk system will be manned by SIGNAL and will use a vast array of automated support tools and detailed procedure lists to resolve IT problems in just one call. Both SIGNAL and sub-contractor, Hewlett-Packard Company, will handle installation of new equipment. Interstate Van Lines Interstate Van Lines is a moving van company that was founded by Arthur E. HP will provide dispatched on-site support at all Senate locations. "With broad geographic service coverage and detailed knowledge of the U.S. Senate infrastructure gained from earlier engagements, we're ready to meet the demanding service-level agreements required of the SIGNAL team."

In addition to SIGNAL providing a full range of IT services, the contract also provides for expansion into optional areas of work including: local area network design, threat and vulnerability analysis In information operations, a systematic examination of an information system or product to determine the adequacy of security measures, identify security deficiencies, provide data from which to predict the effectiveness of proposed security measures, and confirm the adequacy of such , network performance monitoring, security, and a variety of systems administration.

The contract was awarded for a base year and five option years with work slated to begin on June 1, 2002.
