LifeStories for Kids[TM] Joins List of High Quality, Research-Validated Programs

CARY, N.C. -- SELmedia, Inc. is pleased to announce that its award winning character education program, LifeStories for Kids[TM], has been added to the California After School Resource Center's list of research-based programs. The California After School Resource Center (CASRC) provides access to a comprehensive set of reviewed materials, resources, tools, and supportive services for after school programs.

The California After School Resource Center is administered for the California Department of Education, After School Programs Office to provide a one-stop information source that enables the rapidly expanding number of California after school programs to identify resources that meet local instructional needs, are aligned with California curriculum frameworks and standards, are appropriate for use in after school programs, and are research based.

Adopted by schools across the country, LifeStories for Kids[TM] is a captivating, multimedia character education program that uniquely combines evidence-based practices for skill building with the engaging and ancient art of storytelling. This easy-to-use teaching tool helps children explore, enhance, and reinforce understanding of good character traits and prosocial skills. Backed by a 3-year scientific study conducted for the National Institute of Mental Health, the lessons in LifeStories have been proven to significantly decrease shy and withdrawn behavior as well as fighting, teasing, and other forms of direct and relational aggression. The program has also been shown to have positive impact on academic performance and standardized test scores.

In addition, the LifeStories for Kids program correlates to Language Arts standards for states throughout the country including Florida, North Carolina, California, and Texas.
