SELECT releases SELECT Enterprise v5.1 with UML support; New version of component modeling toolset offers UML support, ERwin interface, IDL generation and enhanced C++ generation.

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1997--SELECT Software Tools (NASDAQ:SLCTY), a leading vendor of component-based modeling tools for multi-tier client/server development, today announced the release of SELECT Enterprise v5.1.

The new version, which will be available at the end of April, supports the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and will help developers achieve the benefits of Rapid Architected Application Development (RAAD). Additional new features include integration with Logic Works' data modeling toolset ERwin, CORBA IDL generation and improved C++ generation and reverse-engineering.

In 1994, SELECT offered the first object-oriented (OO) modeling toolset to support the combination of Rumbaugh's OMT and Jacobson's Uses Cases -- two key elements of the UML. SELECT's pre-existing support of these techniques within the SELECT Enterprise component modeling toolset allows its customers a smooth transition path to the new industry standard.

With this new version of SELECT Enterprise, improved code generation and reverse-engineering for C++ will result in faster generation, increased flexibility and overall enhanced performance. The addition of a CORBA IDL generator will allow IDL to be compiled by CORBA 2.0 compliant Object Request.
