A major sewage line burst in UCLA's Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here.  early Thursday, but there also was a figurative stench, one that emanated from the court a few hours later and lingered deep into the evening.

upset and beat Washington State 80-77 in double overtime in front of 9,255.

The Bruins (8-3, 2-1) led by five points with 79 seconds left in overtime but couldn't close it out, but finally got the job done in the second extra period against the Cougars (6-6, 1-2).

``This was a gut-check game,'' UCLA coach Ben Howland Ben Howland (born May 28, 1957 in Lebanon, Oregon) is an American college head coach of men's basketball.

He has been the head coach of the University of California, Los Angeles since 2003, and recently signed a contract extension through 2013.
said. ``I'm really proud of these kids and the character they displayed in not getting down and coming back to win.''

Brian Morrison made one of two free throws to put UCLA up 77-75 with 43.2 seconds left. Washington State's Josh Akognon Josh Emmanuel Akognon (born 10 February 1986) is a college basketball player of American and AFRICAN heritage with the Cal-State Fullerton Titans. He is 5'10 and 186 lbs. High School  missed a short jumper from the lane and Dijon Thompson Dijon Lynn Thompson (born February 23, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, USA) is an American professional basketball player for Alba Berlin of the German Bundesliga.  grabbed two huge defensive rebounds in the final minute and made three free throws to clinch the game.

Those shots erased what could have been an ugly loss for the Bruins, who didn't lead until the final minute of regulation.

``We were out of sync Out of Sync: A Memoir is the upcoming autobiography of American pop singer Lance Bass, set to be published on October 23, 2007. It features an introduction by Marc Eliot, a New York Times ,'' Jordan Farmar Jordan Robert Farmar (born November 30, 1986) is an American professional basketball player at starting point guard for the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers.

He was previously the starting point guard for the UCLA men's basketball team.
said. ``Our intensity didn't come out until the second half.''

Farmar's 3-pointer with 1:19 left in the first overtime put the Bruins up 69-64. Akognon missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with eight seconds left and UCLA's Ryan Hollins Ryan Hollins (born October 10, 1984) is an American professional basketball player. At 7 foot, 225 lbs, he is a center from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was selected in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats.  grabbed the rebound and was fouled, but missed both free throws with five seconds left.

The Bruins then allowed the Cougars to drive the court instead of fouling, and Thomas Kelati hit a 3-pointer as time expired to tie the game 69-69 and send it to a second overtime.

``By no means is this last year's team,'' Hollins said. ``We are not going to let anybody win on our homecourt. We're going to fight until the end.''

UCLA, which lost to Oregon State six days earlier, had a miserable first half, but several players turned things around, most notably Farmar, Hollins and Brian Morrison.

That trio combined for only nine points at halftime, and Thompson, the team's leading scorer this season, missed all five of his first-half shots. Thompson never really got going, although he did finish with a game-high 16 rebounds, but the Bruins got enough offense from other sources.

Farmar, who played 46 minutes without a turnover, scored 17 of his game-high 19 points after halftime, which is when Morrison scored 10 of his 15 points and Hollins scored 11 of his 13.

While Farmar played at the level the Bruins have come to expect, Morrison provided an unexpected boost for a second consecutive game, and the much-maligned Hollins gave UCLA some great minutes.

``He earned some more playing time,'' Howland said.

Last year, Washington State earned its first-ever victory at Pauley Pavilion, and for much of Thursday, it seemed the Cougars would use a stifling defense and a slow-down offense to get another win.

had 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Cougars, who used an 11-0 run to open a 20-6 lead with 7:42 remaining in the first half.

The Cougars maintained a double-digit lead into halftime and led 50-34 with 10:24 left in regulation, but that's when the Bruins, sparked by improved defense, started their run.

UCLA went on an 11-2 run, capped by a Thompson putback that gave the Bruins their first lead at 61-59 with 33.7 seconds left in regulation. Kelati then made a 3-pointer and UCLA's Josh Shipp Josh Shipp (born 23 January in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is an American motivational speaker and author focusing on youth and college-aged audiences. He is noted as being one of the youngest speakers ever accepted into the National Speakers Association.  made one of two free throws with 11.3 seconds left to send the game to overtime.
