SECOM GENERAL CORPORATION FORECASTS RECORD SALES AND EARNINGS FOR FISCAL 1993

SECOM GENERAL CORPORATION FORECASTS RECORD SALES AND EARNINGS
 FOR FISCAL 1993
NOVI, Mich., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Secom General Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: SECM) today announced that it expects sales, net income and earnings per share to reach record levels for its fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 1993.
"Record earnings in 1993 will be derived, in part, from new machinery coming on line, revised pricing policies and other positive changes that have already been implemented throughout 1992 at the operations that we acquired last year," said Roy A. McKnight, chairman and chief executive officer.
Last week Secom announced record sales but lower earnings for its third quarter ended June 30, 1992, compared to the same period last year.
"The silver lining in our situation is that the lower third-quarter earnings were not due to recessionary conditions, as our sales continue strong. Rather, it has taken us longer to assimilate into our corporate structure the two acquisitions of last year. We expect this process to be completed by September," said McKnight.
"While we expect higher sales, per-share earnings will be lower for the fourth quarter ending September 1992, compared to 1991," said David J. Marczak, secretary/treasurer.
In the fourth quarter ended September 1991, Secom posted record sales of $6.4 million and income from continuing operations of $260,000, or 12.5 cents per share, after adjustment for the 10-percent dividend declared in March 1992.
Marczak also said that earnings per share for the fourth quarter ending Sept. 30, 1992, are expected to exceed results for the June 30, 1992, quarter of 3 cents per share, before extraordinary item, and 5 cents per share after the extraordinary item.
Secom General operates seven plants in Michigan and California that specialize in three areas of basic manufacturing: metal parts forming, plastic molded products and toolmaking, serving principally the automotive, trucking, consumer and construction industries.
