SEATTLE PUBLIC HEARING ON NEW FOREST PRACTICE RULES

SEATTLE PUBLIC HEARING ON NEW FOREST PRACTICE RULES
Proposals for sweeping changes in forest practice regulations will

be the subject of a public hearing in Seattle on Monday, Nov. 18.
The State Forest Practices Board is speeding toward formal adoption of the new rules by next summer. Because of the tremendous impact the rules will have on the forest products and agriculture industries, the state budget, school funding and the environment, the board has scheduled an unprecedented series of seven public hearings on the issues this month.
The Seattle hearing will take place at the Museum of History and Industry Auditorium, 2700 24th Avenue East, in Seattle, beginning at 4:30 p.m. An unusually large turnout of representatives from the forest products industry, environmental groups, tribal leaders and state agencies is expected.
A complete media briefing paper is available. Call the Washington Forest Protection Association to receive an immediate copy by fax.
