His sports hero is Muhammad Ali.  saw it in the fourth quarter, while standing on the sideline with his teammates, watching USC's defense try to contain Oregon State.

The wide receiver noticed a sense of urgency finally gripped the Trojans.

``More and more, the players and coaches are telling each other that this is our season,'' Kelly said. ``In the fourth quarter, we said, `It's our season at stake.' ''

The Trojans (4-5, 3-3) are riding their first two-game winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

, and realize they no longer have any margin for error to finish the year with a winning record.

Dare one say that the Trojans are peaking in early November, no matter how unimpressive the past two victories have looked?

``If this is a peak, I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

But at least there's still a tangible goal ahead.

Although it didn't look like it two weeks ago, the Trojans actually have something to play for as the season winds down. If USC can win its final two games, the Trojans might find themselves playing in a bowl game.

Of course, no one said it would be a quality bowl game, with the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho “Boise” redirects here. For other uses, see Boise (disambiguation).

Boise is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Idaho. It is the county seat of Ada County and the principal city of the Boise metropolitan area.
, one of the possibilities.

But that's a lot better - in USC's view - than sitting home in December.

First, the Trojans need to close out the regular season without losing. And now there seems to be a formula for victory.

USC only seems capable of winning games when it doesn't need to rely on its offense.

The Trojans beat Arizona with two interceptions returned for touchdowns. They beat Oregon State because Troy Polamalu Troy Aumua Polamalu (born Troy Benjamin Aumua on April 19, 1981 in Garden Grove, California) is an American football player who plays strong safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL. He is of Samoan descent.  blocked a punt in the end zone and Steve Stevenson recovered it for a touchdown.

The offense remains dreary, unable to win a game on its own merits, and the line appears vulnerable whether passing or running.

The defense also had a letdown in the second half, when Oregon State gained 144 yards on the ground.

``In the second half, we got pounded,'' Carroll said. ``If I knew how to fix that, I'd fix it right away.''
