A 1950s-themed concert featuring the Boulevard Knights will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8. Audience members are being encouraged to dress in '50s fashions, with prizes awarded for the best costume. From Sept. 28 to 30 and Oct. 5 to 7, the Palmdale City Players will present ``Stuart Little'' as an introduction to theater for children. And Men of Worth, a group of Irish and Scottish balladers, will perform Oct. 20 for the second consecutive year. The annual Holiday Open House will begin Nov. 14, when residents can tour the playhouse as it is transformed with a Victorian motif. The second half of the season will include Mary Baker and the Jim Dixon Jazz Duo performing on Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Beatlemania takes the stage on Jan. 26 with the debut of ``Yesterday - A Tribute to the Beatles.'' The Ira Stein Trio, a contemporary acoustic sound with a blend of piano, cello and soprano saxophone, will perform on Valentine's Day. On March 9, ``A Night in Ireland,'' with Irish-American singer Kathy Cowan and Celtic musician Joseph Sobol, will open, blending music and poetry. George Orwell's tale ``Animal Farm'' will be performed by the Palmdale City Players on March 15. The annual Shakespeare Festival will return, with five days of plays, music, sonnets and wandering madrigals. Mother's Day at the playhouse will be celebrated with Glen Rose performing music by composer Irving Berlin. And the annual Summer Celebration closes out the season with the youth and community groups performing May 17-20. ``What makes the playhouse very unique is its youth and community visual and performing arts program,'' Ledford said. ``The playhouse is the place where community members can develop many different arts talents.''
