SEARLE ANNOUNCES NEW PROGRAM TO REMIND PATIENTS
WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE TO TAKE THEIR MEDICATION
Searle announced today a first-of-its-kind program to remind patients with high blood pressure to take their medication. Medication non-compliance is the biggest problem in treating high blood pressure -- far surpassing identifying patients with the disease or diagnosing it. Patients with a new prescription for the company's calcium channel blocker, the most frequently prescribed antihypertensive agent in its class, can enroll through physicians and pharmacists for a series of reminder calls made on behalf of the physician by a Searle operator -- not a recording or a computer -- at a time selected by the patient.
For full prescribing information, additional news materials and to schedule interviews with experts in compliance and behavior modification see contact.
CONTACT: Kevin Donavan, 212-995-2900, or fax 212-995-5674, for Searle.
