CASTAIC - Tearful family members gathered at Lake Castaic on Saturday, some on shore and others ferried to the site of a deadly high-speed boating crash that occurred the day before.

The accident left three men presumed dead and the body of a fourth man was recovered Friday.

As a helicopter searched overhead, homicide investigators spent much of Saturday trying to reconstruct the deadly crash, but authorities said their search was made difficult by the dangerously deep waters "Deep Waters" is a short story by P. G. Wodehouse, which first appeared in the United States in the March 25 1910 issue of Collier's Weekly, and in the United Kingdom in the June 1910 issue of the Strand. .

``I just wanted to say my goodbyes in case I don't see him again,'' said David Brinkman, the father of Nelson Roy Brinkman, one of the men feared dead, fighting tears as explained his visit.

While Brinkman's father and sister, Dena Welch, were ferried to the site on a lifeguard boat, Brinkman's mother stayed on shore.

``They wanted to go to the site. But I just couldn't,'' said Terri Berry, of Norwalk, crying as she spoke. ``I'll have to wait until they bring him up.''

Authorities planned to continue their work this morning, while some family members were working to bring in private divers Several; any number more than two; different.

Based on an oil slick and the presence of some debris, sheriff's deputies said they narrowed down the location of the submerged boat. Lifeguards pulled the body of Ken Lane, 41, of La Canada Flintridge, from the lake on Friday, shortly after receiving word of the crash.

Since that time, however, the only objects that have been retrieved from the 53-degree water are a few shards of the blue and yellow boat and three tennis shoes tennis shoes nplzapatillas fpl de tenis

Steve Coulombe, one of the missing, owns High Torque Marine, a boat design and manufacturing company in Acton, friends and the company's Web site said. Along with two of his employees and a friend, he was testing his latest creation at the time of the accident, family said.

Brinkman, a 30-year-old engine builder for the company, was supposed to celebrate his sixth wedding anniversary today. Instead, his parents and sister waited by the shore Saturday as his wife and young son stayed home, too grief-stricken to make the trip from their home in Phelan.

Berry said her son could display a macho exterior, but at heart he was a soft, sensitive man.

``He could put on a tough show, but he's really very sensitive and good- hearted. Nelson would come up here and try out boats that he'd built and worked on,'' she said. ``And my grandson - he's 5 1/2 - is just like (Nelson) was when he was little: adventurous, ambitious, always doing boyish boy·ish

Many who waited on shore Saturday were employed by the other man on board, Chuck Wiseman, a Castaic boat enthusiast who owned Creative Concrete and Mr. Pump Concrete Pumping A concrete pump is a tool for transferring liquid concrete by pumping. There are two main classifications of concrete pumps.

Wiseman owned an earlier model HTM boat and was successful in boat racing. He was on board when the boat capsized, authorities said.

The father of two turned 47 on Wednesday, and family and friends had planned to celebrate at a restaurant the night of the accident. On Saturday, a teen who looked on Wiseman almost as a father, cried as he mentioned his friend's birthday cake, unclaimed at a local bakery.

His girlfriend of six years, Michele Hailpern, was consoled by friends Saturday before taking a lifeguard boat to the scene.

``I keep thinking he's going to come back, and I know he's not,'' she said, struggling to speak through her tears. ``I want to go out there because I know he knows I'm here. He's going to missed so very deeply by so many people.''
