ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2002

Accelerates Integration of Legacy Applications with MQ Infrastructure

, a leading provider of legacy application enhancement software technology, today announced the incorporation of extensive support for MQSeries in its Transidiom(TM) software solution, which generates XML XML

The new MQSeries Communication Manager feature of SEAGULL's Transidiom application integration server provides non-proprietary adapters to mainframe and iSeries applications, connecting legacy systems to the MQSeries infrastructure while requiring no modifications to those systems. The combination of MQSeries messaging and Transidiom legacy integration reduces the time, cost and risk associated with host application integration initiatives.

"SEAGULL complements IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  by offering very specific best-of-breed software products that shorten time-to-solution for WebSphere customers," said Sally Hudson, manager for IDC's eBusiness Infrastructure Software program. "The combination of MQSeries and Transidiom, with its new MQSeries Communication Manager feature, enables organizations to start delivering successful legacy integration projects more quickly at a lower cost and with fewer resources."

MQSeries, which is part of the IBM WebSphere family, allows organizations to integrate disparate packets of information across heterogeneous platforms, assuring on-time delivery of prioritized messages and confirmation of delivery upon request. MQSeries is regarded as the industry's leading Message Oriented Middleware Software that functions as a conversion or translation layer. It is also a consolidator and integrator. Custom-programmed middleware solutions have been developed for decades to enable one application to communicate with another that either runs on a different platform or comes from a  (MOM), guaranteeing delivery of message descriptors and application data via the MQSeries messaging infrastructure.

In order for an application to accept and respond to MQSeries requests, it must be MQ-enabled. Enabling procedural legacy applications to plug into the MQSeries message-oriented infrastructure typically requires extensive, time-consuming and destabilizing revision of existing application code and/or costly development and maintenance of custom adapters. Transidiom simplifies and expedites integration with MQSeries by extending legacy applications with MQ-compatible XML interfaces, eliminating the need to buy or build adapters. With Transidiom's MQSeries Communication Manager, there is no need to modify a legacy application or to write custom code to interpret the messages delivered by MQSeries. MQSeries messages can be sent in any format to the Transidiom server, where the content is automatically transformed using XSLT (eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformation) Software that converts an XML document into another format such as HTML, PDF or text. It may also be used to convert one XML document to another XML document with a different set of XML tags (different schema). .  to MQSeries. Designed for rapid deployment, Transidiom comprises an XML interface layer through which legacy applications and MQSeries can communicate.

"By leveraging XML, organizations are not forced down a path of using proprietary messaging formats that require changes to their applications to support custom adapters," said Andre den Haan, SEAGULL Vice President of Product Strategy. "With Transidiom, organizations can derive even greater ROI (Return On Investment) The monetary benefits derived from having spent money on developing or revising a system. In the IT world, there are more ways to compute ROI than Carter has liver pills (and for those of you who never heard of that expression, it means a lot).  from their MQSeries investments by accelerating the delivery of integration projects and Web services (1) Loosely, any online service delivered over the Web.
