SEAGRAM REALIGNS LEADERSHIP OF THE HOUSE OF SEAGRAM

 NEW YORK, Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- The Seagram Spirits And Wine Group today announced an enhancement of its U.S. management team. Given the increasing complexity and challenge of the U.S. spirits business environment, Steven J. Kalagher, currently executive vice president of The Seagram Spirits and Wine Group, will be promoted to president of The House of Seagram, the Group's U.S. spirits division. The current President, Jerome S. Mann, will be appointed chairman of this division.
 Mr. Kalagher will be charged with managing the day-to-day operations of the U.S. spirits business while Mr. Mann will concentrate on external issues impacting Seagram's spirits business in the United States.
 Both will report to Edward F. McDonnell, president of The Seagram Spirits And Wine Group. These management changes are effective Feb. 1, 1993, to coincide with the beginning of The Seagram Company Ltd.'s fiscal year.
 Commenting on Mr. Kalagher's appointment as president of the U.S. spirits division, Mr. McDonnell said, "Over the past several years, Steve has been a major influence in improving performance, efficiency and communications of our worldwide operations and has been intimately involved in all of its disciplines. Given that experience, his leadership talent and his comprehensive knowledge of our U.S. business, I believe he will do an outstanding job in this important market."
 Mr. Kalagher joined Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc. in 1974 and has held a series of increasingly important positions in the U.S. subsidiary including vice president, marketing planning, vice president, general manager and executive vice president, finance~administration.
 Regarding the appointment of Jerome S. Mann, Mr. McDonnell said, "Jerry, a veteran of more than 30 years with Seagram, has done an excellent job as president of The House of Seagram for the past five years -- a time of tremendous transition. In addition to restructuring our U.S. spirits operations and focusing our brand portfolio, The House of Seagram has achieved record profit performance every year under his stewardship."
 Mr. Mann will be responsible for strengthening Seagram's key relationships with many of the company's external constituencies in the United States, including The Century Council and the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
 Previously Mr. Mann held several executive positions, including executive vice president, sales, Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc. and president of Seagram Europe. Mr. Mann joined Seagram in 1959 as a trade research analyst.
 The House of Seagram, a division of The Seagram Spirits And Wine Group, based in New York, is responsible for the production and marketing of Seagram's U.S. distilled spirits brands within the United States. It also imports and markets Seagram brands produced outside of the United States and select premium brands of other companies. The division's brands include Seagram's 7 Crown Blended Whiskey, Chivas Regal and The Glenlivet Scotch Whiskies, Crown Royal and Seagram's V.O. Canadian Whiskies, Seagram's Extra Dry Gin, Martell Cognacs, Myers's Original Dark Jamaican Rum and Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum.
