 SEAGRAM NAMES MICHAEL SOROKER AS VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES
 NEW YORK, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of The Seagram Company Ltd., (NYSE: VO) today announced the appointment of Michael Soroker as vice president of Human Resource Planning and Development. Soroker will report to Jeananne K. Hauswald, vice president, Human Resources for The Seagram Company Ltd.
 Soroker joins Seagram with more than 25 years of experience in the field of human resources and has dealt with a wide array of strategic human resource issues. In his new position, Soroker will primarily be responsible for Seagram's global human resource planning efforts, including performance management, training, career development and recruitment.
 "Seagram's objective is to ensure that human resource planning is closely tied to our global business strategies," said Hauswald. "Michael's diverse background, particularly his international experience, will add a new strategic perspective to our ongoing efforts in this area that will benefit both our employees and the company," she added.
 Since 1989, Soroker has served as vice president of Human Resources for Clintec Nutrition Company, a joint venture between Baxter Healthcare and Nestle. Between 1977 and 1989 he held various positions of increasing responsibility for Baxter Healthcare Corporation, including the human resources function in the U.S., Canada and the Asia/ Pacific region. He was also based in Tokyo for four years with operational responsibility for Baxter Ltd. Japan. From 1967 to 1977 he was associated with International Playtex Incorporated.
 A 1965 graduate of Widener University, Soroker received his Masters degree in Industrial Relations in 1975 from Southern Illinois University. Soroker, a former resident of Long Grove, Ill., will relocate to the New York metropolitan area.
