SEA-LAND SERVICE'S ATLANTIC DIVISION HEADQUARTERS TO MOVE TO ROTTERDAM

SEA-LAND SERVICE'S ATLANTIC DIVISION HEADQUARTERS TO MOVE TO ROTTERDAM
EDISON, N.J., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilford W. Middleton, executive vice president in charge of Sea-Land Service Inc.'s Atlantic Division, announced today that the division's headquarters will be relocated from Edison to Rotterdam. This move, to be completed by late June, will consolidate the division's support operations in Europe.
"The core of the Atlantic Division's business is in Europe," said Middleton, "and we want to be in a position to act quickly and decisively in response to market opportunities while realizing substantial overhead cost savings."
Currently, 45 people in Edison provide support for Atlantic operations. A large number of these positions will be eliminated in the consolidation, primarily in the marketing and finance areas. The division's sales group will remain in the U.S.
Middleton will be relocating to Rotterdam and Joseph T. (Jay) Keegan, vice president/general manager, Europe, will be returning from Rotterdam to the U.S. to take a senior post elsewhere in the company.
