SDRC terminates software marketing agreement with IBM.


MILFORD, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 1994--Structural Dynamics Research Corporation Dynamics Research Corporation (NASDAQ: DRCO) is a United States-based publicly held defense contractor.

) today announced that it is terminating the international software marketing agreement with IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  which allowed IBM to market and support SDRC software.

Martin A. Neads, senior vice president and general manager of SDRC's software products marketing division, said, ``This action will allow customers to obtain support and services for I-DEAS Master Series(TM) on IBM hardware systems directly from the SDRC's knowledgeable sales force or qualified distribution channels. SDRC will continue to offer its software products on the IBM RS 6000 platform on a worldwide basis.''

From 1981 through 1993, IBM marketed SDRC's software under IBM's trademark name ``CAEDS.'' In order to ensure uninterrupted service for current CAEDS customers, SDRC has introduced an incentive program. License charges for customers migrating to I-DEAS Master Series from CAEDS Version 4 will be waived by SDRC and SDRC's standard maintenance and support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  will be offered. This will allow for a smooth transition for this important customer base.

In addition, SDRC is a major provider of product data management software.
