STORServer(R) Inc., Colorado Springs, Colo., a storage protection leader in Backup Appliances, has developed a unique capability for Open VMS with its new software product, STORServer Data Protection for Oracle on Open VMS (SDP).

The only software product to provide data protection for Oracle on Open VMS, "SDP provides the power of centralized backup/archive management, online backup and restore, incremental backup, and automated storage management functions," said STORServer President John Pearring. SDP provides the capability to store data on a wide variety of storage devices, as well as perform a variety of functions, including the following:

-- Full or tablespace backup of a database while it is online or off-line

-- Full database restores either online or offline

-- Tablespace restore while database is offline

-- Backups of archive log files

-- Block level incremental backup of changed database pages

-- Oracle backups with virtually no application impact.
