 SCOTTISH RITE TO ANNOUNCE IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM
 WHAT: Press conference to announce a new immunization
 awareness and dose administration program to help
 the metro Atlanta area's indigent children get
 protection from vaccine-preventable childhood
 diseases.
 WHO: Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center is joining
 forces with Georgia's first lady Shirley Miller,
 wife of Gov. Zell Miller, and "Every Child By Two,"
 the national immunization advocacy program created
 by former first lady Rosalynn Carter.
 WHEN: Thursday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m.
 WHERE: Hospital Auditorium, 1001 Johnson Ferry Road N.E.,
 Atlanta, GA 30363
 WHY: Immunization rates for preschoolers, particularly,
 have dropped over the last 10 years and certain
 childhood diseases are increasing in epidemic numbers.
 It is estimated that overall 20 to 30 percent of
 children and as high as 50 percent of those from
 inner cities and rural areas are not getting the
 protection they need.
