SCOTT, MOORPARK STEAMROLL HART STAR BACK GOES OVER 3,000 YARDS.

Byline: GERRY GITTELSON Staff Writer

MOORPARK -- After losing in the Southern Section football semifinals three times over the past five seasons, Moorpark High didn't play around Saturday.

The host Musketeers jumped to a 42-point halftime lead in an eventual 56-27 victory over shell-shocked Hart of Newhall in the Northern Division semifinals, boosting Moorpark (11-2) into the championship game against Canyon (10-2) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Home Depot The Home Depot (NYSE: HD) is an American retailer of home improvement and construction products and services.

Scott said. ``I actually thought Hart would have the edge, but we had a head of steam and we capitalized.''

The loss was quite a disappointment for Hart (8-5). The Indians, who lost to Moorpark by 18 points in Week 2, entered with a five-game winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

Following a 33-yard touchdown pass from Adam Barry to Nick Karem, Scott scored on a 15-yard reception and then a 37-yard run, totaling 175yards rushing on 25 carries before the break.

``We even surprised ourselves a little bit,'' Moorpark lineman George Halamandaris said. ``We just came out and really wanted it.''

Any hope of a Hart comeback was quashed when Karem scored on a 52-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter to push the lead to 49-0. Hart answered with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Alex Pettee to Michael Davis Michael Davis or Mike Davis may refer to:

. Hart then added touchdowns on passes of 17 yards to Brandon Arndt and 39 yards to Michael Vairo to pull within 49-21 early in the fourth quarter.

Scott reentered with just more than nine minutes remaining, reeling off a 14-yard run on his first carry since early in the third quarter to again swing things in Moorpark's favor. A few plays later, he scored his fourth touchdown on a 2-yard run to make it 56-21.

``We just didn't play like we should have,'' Hart defensive back Adam Reyes said. ``It's been an up and down season, and we've just had to deal with it.''

In the first half, Hart committed four turnovers and was outgained 254-63.
