SCIENTIFIC-ATLANTA TELECOMMUNICATIONS INSTRUMENTATION BUSINESS ACQUIRED BY ACME-CLEVELAND CORPORATION

 CLEVELAND, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Acme-Cleveland Corporation (NYSE: AMT) today announced that its telecommunications subsidiary, Communications Technology Corporation (CTC), has acquired the product line and other related assets and rights of Scientific-Atlanta, Inc.'s (NYSE: SFA) Telecommunications Instrumentation business.
 Scientific-Atlanta's Telecommunications Instrumentation products are used to measure, test, and monitor the transmission quality of high speed digital telecommunications networks. Such products include portable analyzers for DS3, DS1, and E1 rates, SONET, and automated systems for network performance analysis and manufacturing test. Scientific-Atlanta's Telecommunications Instrumentation products are expected to add $5 to $10 million in annual sales for CTC over the next several years.
 David L. Swift, Acme-Cleveland chairman and CEO, stated, "The acquisition will combine the network digital transmission testing expertise of Scientific-Atlanta's Telecommunications Instrumentation business with CTC's capabilities in outside plant testing and operational support system databases. This combination represents a significant opportunity to accelerate the growth of CTC's instrument and systems businesses and will better position CTC to support the evolving broadband testing needs of the telephone industry."
 Acme-Cleveland Corporation manufactures and sells telecommunications products, sensor devices and controls, quality assurance products, cutting tools, and multiple spindle machine tools and related parts and services.
