LITTLEROCK - The Almondale Middle School Concert Band is making music and bringing home trophies.

The 43-member band recently brought home four trophies from the Music Showcase Festival: first place for the Class A Division, the award for outstanding low-brass section, the award for outstanding low-brass section trophies, the one for outstanding percussion section Noun 1. percussion section - the section of a band or orchestra that plays percussion instruments

``They consistently perform at an above-average level,'' said band instructor Rebecca Van Kley. ``They are highly dedicated to creating the best product they can. It's easy to win medals when you have a group of kids that's so enthusiastic and passionate about creating an outstanding musical product.''

The May event was the third event in three months in which the band won awards. In April, the band was ranked in the top 10 percent in its category for the second year in a row at the Forum Music Festival in Yorba Linda Yorba Linda (yôr`bə lĭn`də), city (1990 pop. 52,422), Orange co., S Calif., in a region of citrus fruit; inc. 1967. The city has grown tremendously along with the southern California area; its population increased fivefold between . For the prepared concert, each band performed music chosen by its conductor conductor
