SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Students were questioned and three students' homes searched by sheriff's detectives after Canyon High officials were told of a plan, that ended up not existing, to harm students and staff, authorities said Friday.

Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Sheriff said no plans or weapons were found during the searches, though bomb-making information from the Internet was seized.

No crime had been committed, they said.

The students claimed they had plans to cause an incident, using explosives and guns, that would disrupt the school and injure staff and other students, authorities said.

A student alerted school officials of the plans, they said.

 conducted interviews with students Thursday, and searched the homes of three boys ages 15 and 16 in the evening, Peters said.

Peters said the teens' parents cooperated with the department in the investigation.
