They'll have an instantaneous school site.'' School overcrowding overcrowding overcrowding of animal accommodation. The Sulphur Springs District has no temporary schools, which are made up of portable buildings linked together, Frison said. A temporary school could be built in several months, Frison said, but the site would still require the approval of the state Department of Toxic Substances. Weste said city officials have to be proactive in solving the overcrowding crisis. ``I'm excited about this potential opportunity,'' Weste said. Cristiano offered to lease the land to the school district for $1 a year for five years. After that, homes would be built on the land, he said. He'll then ask the district to use money from his development to build an access road to the temporary school site. ``Why am I doing this? It reduces my long-term cost,'' Cristiano said. ``This makes good business sense.'' The Planning Commission on Tuesday also unanimously approved Cristiano's plans for 111 condominiums near Sierra Highway and Rainbow Glen Drive. Several commissioners praised the project for having fewer homes than the maximum allowed in the city's code. Cristiano revealed the plan during the public hearing. On the other side of Sierra Highway, Cristiano is planning to build 150 single-family homes near Green Mountain Drive and Golden Valley Road, approved by the City Council several months ago. The proposed school site would be adjacent to this property. |
