SCHOOL DESIGN GOES ON FACILITY HINGES ON DEVELOPMENT.

Byline: Eugene Tong Staff Writer

CASTAIC - The Hart district will pay $4.64 million to two architectural firms An architectural firm is a company which employs one or more licensed architects and practices the profession of architecture. History
Architects (master builders) have existed since early in recorded history. The earliest recorded architects include Imhotep (c.
to design and plot the construction of Castaic High School, which has kept up pace despite ongoing wrangling between a local water board and developer.

Inc. and Phillips Metsch Sweeney Moore as the architects for the high school campus scheduled to open in 2007.

Both firms have been under contract with Hart to perform initial planning at the remote school site in the proposed 3,900-home Northlake development along Castaic Lake's northern bluffs. As the primary architect, STV would receive about $3.97 million from the contract, while PMSM PMSM Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor , the design architect, would be paid $669,000.

The fee represents about 8 percent of the project's total construction cost.

``STV will play the main role in putting together the construction documents and specifications required to have the school meet Division of State Architect requirements, and the documents required to build the school,'' said Michael Otavka, Hart's facilities director overseeing new construction.

The two firms also have been active in Hart's ongoing renovation projects at Canyon and Saugus high schools Saugus High School may refer to:

  • Saugus High School (Massachusetts)
and Arroyo Seco Arroyo Seco (Spanish: "dry creek") may refer to:

 Junior High.

``We're very pleased with their work,'' Otavka said.

However, the status of the proposed high school's 61-acre site remains uncertain. The land is expected to be provided by Northlake builder SunCal Cos. as part of its obligation to furnish community facilities for the county-approved tract's residents.

Newhall County Water District's ongoing effort to revise the region's water estimates and limit service could kill developments such as Northlake. A water board majority believes current estimates are unreliable because they include contaminated contaminated,

 groundwater and unreliable state sources.

Both SunCal and Newhall Water have pressed their positions over the past four weeks. In late April, the Woodland Hills-based developer filed a lawsuit against the water district for denying service to Northlake, while the water district has hired an independent consultant to examine the groundwater tallying process.
