SCHOOL BUS BESIEGED BY YOUTHS IN VENTURA.

High school students were terrorized during a brazen bra·zen

 attack on a school bus by alleged gang members smashing windows with a tire iron and baseball bat before unleashing a pit bull on them.

The attackers drove off after failing to enter the bus about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at a busy intersection. Two of the 60 Buena High School Buena High School can refer to:
  • Buena High School (Arizona), in Sierra Vista, Arizona
  • Buena High School (California), in Ventura, California
 students aboard the bus were treated at a hospital for injuries caused by flying glass.

There were no arrests, police Lt. Carl Handy said Thursday.

``Officers are working on the campus today and a gang suppression team has been called out. It's rival neighborhoods here. This just incites the community and we will have arrests,'' Handy said.

The incident began when three youths in a black Chevrolet Blazer The Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy names were used on two different early SUV models:
  • The full-size K5 Blazer and Jimmy were produced from 1969 on the C/K pickup truck chassis.
 began yelling profanities and flashing gang signs at students waiting for the bus. When the bus pulled out and stopped at an intersection, one of the youths from the Blazer charged an emergency door, ripped it open and tried to climb aboard.

Several students managed to fight him off and shut the emergency door. One of the youths then grabbed a baseball bat from the car and smashed the emergency door window, sending shattered shat·ter

``The bus driver was screaming, `Put the windows up!' '' said student Mayra Chavez.
