DeMarzio said he supports the board's decision to place a $55 million school construction bond measure before voters on the June 6 ballot. ``We need to keep pace with the growth in the valley,'' DeMarzio said. Trustees selected DeMarzio from among six candidates at a special meeting Thursday. He was sworn in after his appointment. Board President Gwen Farrell said DeMarzio has shown commitment to the district by volunteering at Quartz quartz, one of the commonest of all rock-forming minerals and one of the most important constituents of the earth's crust.
