MADISON, N.J., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Schering Corporation, a subsidiary of Schering-Plough Corporation (NYSE: SGP) of Madison, has reached a settlement of its lawsuit with Genentech, Inc. (NYSE: GNE) of South San Francisco, involving Genentech's U.S. patent 4,704,362 ("Recombinant Cloning Vehicle Microbial Polypeptide Expression").
In a suit filed in June 1992 in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark, Schering had contested Genentech's patent claims pertaining to technology used to produce Schering's recombinant alpha interferon product.
Under their agreement, Schering and its affiliates will obtain a worldwide license to Genentech's U.S. patent 4,704,362 in return for past and future royalties payable through 1996.
