MURRIETA -- Royal of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  couldn't wait for Thursday's CIF-SCGA Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Championship round to be over, while freshman Ramsey Sahyoun of Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:

When it was announced they had tied Clovis West with a score of 361, the Highlanders' bid to capture the team title came down to the sixth scorer.

Clovis West's Tommy Corbin shot 79 and Royal's Matt Minae posted an 82, giving the Golden Eagles the tiebreaker tie·break·er

and there were two scores of 361 posted, I knew it was going to come down to our sixth scorer," Royal's Matt Hoffenberg said. "I don't agree with the ruling, but as long as this doesn't happen at the state championships it doesn't matter since it's just a qualifier."

It marked the second straight year and the third time in the tournament's 37-year history that the title was decided on the sixth-golfer tiebreaker. Cathedral Catholic of San Diego prevailed last season over Torrey Pines after both teams shot 363.

Hoffenberg led the way for the Highlanders with six birdies to card a 4-under 68, finishing in a six-way tie for second place. He was edged out by Murrieta Valley's Rickie Fowler, who shot 66 to capture his second SCGA SCGA Southern California Golf Association

title, following a round of 62 as a freshman.

"I don't think he played that good, actually," Hoffenberg said of Fowler's round. "But he's Rickie Fowler and it's his home course, so I guess I just expected more from him."

Royal teammates Paul Misko and Danny Katz both ended their rounds with 72s, Kyle Holden finished with a 74 and Shane Blanchard carded a 75.

Next for the Highlanders will be Wednesday's CIF-State Golf Championships at Poppy Hills Golf Course The Poppy Hills Golf Course is a golf course in Pebble Beach, California, on the Monterey Peninsula just outside of Monterey, California. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and it opened in 1986.  in Pebble Beach, which includes 48 golfers from Northern and Southern California.

Three six-person teams -- Edison of Huntington Beach (362) secured the final berth -- plus the top six individuals on non-qualifying teams advance to the state finals, although Fowler won't be among them.

The Oklahoma State-bound standout decided to compete in the Sunnehanna Amateur in Pennsylvania instead.

Campbell Hall's Sayhoun, the Alpha League's MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Officially introduced as the TMS320C80, it combines RISC technology with the functionality of four DSPs on one chip. , finished among a group of seven golfers at 3-under 69.

But it was his birdie on the second extra hole that allowed him to survive a playoff, along with Torrey Pines of San Diego's James Erkenbeck, and move on to Poppy Hills.

"He did it when he had to and I'm excited for him," Campbell Hall coach Todd Ellsworth said.

Hart of Newhall's Johnny MacArthur was also part of the group at 69, but couldn't extend his season in the playoff.

"It's exciting to make it to this tournament," Cleveland coach Mike Farr said. "The City Section teams come out here as the ninth or 10th seed and aren't expected to advance. So for us, we got the chance to see what it takes to go further in the tournament."

Senior Will Leivenberg (78), who will try to walk on at Cal, was a bright spot for Cleveland.
